Onondaga County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot verify custody, arrange a release, accept bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the public office that maintains the record or status you need.

Onondaga County Records Contacts

The Sheriff’s official contact page lists its headquarters at 407 South State Street, Syracuse, NY 13202. Verify routing and hours before calling or visiting. The office lines listed there include Sheriff’s Office, 315-435-3044; Correction Department, 315-435-5581; Custody Department and Justice Center, 315-435-1770; Police Administration, 315-435-3036; Police Records and Records Access Officer, 315-435-3010; Warrants Investigation, 315-435-3032; and Media Relations, 315-435-3033.

For a specific existing County record, start with the Sheriff Records Unit and the county FOIL request form. The county materials describe a five-business-day response framework and list fax 315-435-8582. They also list copy and media charges, including $0.25 per page up to 9 by 14 inches, $5 per CD, actual cost for other media, and possible $20-per-hour extensive computer research. Requesting a photo does not mean it will be released; the custodian must review the request.

Choose the official route that matches the record type and agency.

  • For a person currently held at the Justice Center, use the official current-custody lookup or the Custody Department line. A no-result does not prove no arrest.
  • For a Sheriff booking record or an agency-held photograph, use the Records Unit and FOIL route with enough details to identify the existing record. Open cases and privacy rules can limit access.
  • For an Onondaga warrant question, use the Active Warrants page and the Warrants Investigation line. A court or attorney is the appropriate source for resolution advice.
  • For a Syracuse Police record, use the city’s separate Syracuse FOIL route. Syracuse Police public-safety-building hours are listed as 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
  • For a person sentenced to state custody, use the New York DOCCS incarcerated-individual locator, rather than the county current-custody search.
  • For federal or immigration detention, use the BOP Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator.
